Someone paid 117 pounds (or USD $179.21) for this size eight XS red Topshop mac ... this is just way over the top.
How come some (identical) coats go for so much but others much less?
I only paid 30 pounds for my identical size SIXTEEN red Topshop mac on e-bay ... it's in perfect condition as well

I agree Mason
Why not come to PVC-U-LIKE and grab yourself a nice raincoat for £30?
I think its because the coat is lined and probably a lot warmer than our traditional coats.

Re: Another ridiculous price
What's more disconcerting to me is, someone is selling something for an outrageous price, that could have been obtained much cheaper just a few months ago. Meaning that seller knows there's a demand for it. So these raincoats are selling when they're new, but I never see them being worn on the streets, whether it's raining or not. Granted I'm in the States, but how is it on your side of the Pond? Where are these raincoats going after they are sold? Are they all going to fellow fetishists and/or resellers?
Re: Another ridiculous price
I have often wondered this as well BillP. You never see them worn on the street even on a wet day. They just seem to vanish into thin air

Re: Another ridiculous price
Well it got bid up to £117.00 but the way eBay is going these days with the amount of non paying bidders its doesnt mean anyone has actually PAID that amountmason wrote:Someone paid 117 pounds (or USD $179.21) for this size eight XS red Topshop mac ... this is just way over the top.

AND, while it might seem over the top to us someone obviously wanted it enough to bid that much for it and that's up to them
Quite true Gaz, plus lots of choice of colours, styles and sizes guaranteed to be in new condition and with a proper after sales servicepvcdreams wrote:I agree Mason

To be fair Bill, the bidding opened at £10.00, so it could of sold for £10.00, it was 9 bidders and their 35 bids that took it to 'an outrageous price'Bill_P wrote:What's more disconcerting to me is, someone is selling something for an outrageous price, that could have been obtained much cheaper just a few months ago. I have no problem with what sellers ask for and what buyers pay, its up to them and what they think things are worth
When I bid on something I bid as much as I want to pay and dont worry if some one wants to pay more, when I sell I ask what I I'm happy to accept, if it doesnt sell then I got it wrong, if it flies then I'm delighted
I have to agree that whether sold by Topshop or eBay they do become 'rare' once bought

Re: Another ridiculous price
have to say i was amazed to get around £27 for a run of the mill brown 80s raincoat that was too small for me, I started it at £3.99 and thought if I get to double figures will do well. At that price I actually sent it recorded delivery at my own cost just to be on the safe side but the buyer was delighted with his purchase so all good. Seems prices are going through the roof

That's what I mean Merv listed his item at a realistic price and people were willing to pay a good price for it and the buyer was happy, Merv was happy
Buyers will pay what they are happy with and sellers who might be considered as "greedy" risk losing their listing fees if the item doesnt sell
Re: Another ridiculous price
Sometimes it feels like there are a finite number of rubber/PVC/plastic raincoats in the world and those of us who post on here and other rainwear related sites are just selling them to each other.
Although when I look at other sites, such as Mackintosh Society & Mach 2, it would appear that there are many others (particularly women) who enjoy our fetish but don't post on here...I get the feeling there are many more of us in the world than the few hundred or so who post on this forum...

Re: Another ridiculous price
I'm not sure that Bill is right. I agree that there are plenty of ladies who, live with and enjoy our male fetish, but I'm not sure that those ladies really "feel it" the way we do.
Let's see how many real ladies admit it?

Re: Another ridiculous price
Well, I'm just saying, there seem to be a decent number of sellers on places like ebay who see a lucrative secondary market for rainwear, so there have to be more enthusiasts out there than just the handful that post here. They have to be using their purchases for fetish activity, 'cause they sure as hell aren't being worn in public!
