I just thought some members might be interested to know that 'Rainmac' in Midhurst is up for sale, that is the business. If you go into their website and look into corporate. I understand that their macs are not everyones cup of tea but it is I guess the last remaining shop selling their own brand macs. They do a good range of waterproof nylon macs as well as some very good pvc coats. Its somewhere you can go and try on in comfort including nice ladies macs if that is your preference. I have three full length macs with hoods and a threequarter length two capes. I wear them out regularly. The staff are great there and I have evn gone in wearing a denim skirt which appeared very welcome.

They do sell on line and I guess that will be the future for the business and I think although the brand is reasonably strong it does need some new styles and more choice. So there's a challenge for someone and maybe we should give a link to their site.

Assuming that Rainmac is for sale, that could dilute our chances of buying down to two stores. Namely, Weathervain and Hamilton Classics.

Both do sell on line as well Rainmac we understand. Please note that I'm talking rubber-lined as opposed to PVC so there may be more choices for the latter. And note that Rainmac gave up on rubber-lined mackintoshes some time ago.

In any event, it's getting harder to buy whatever we like and heaven help us with the prices.

I will be sorry to see Rainmac close but understand they may be struggling in today's world.

Both my wife and I are 'PVC people' and my wife has three Rainmac macs, two long and one short. They are regularly admired when she is wearing them but rarely do we see others wearing similar macs. I have asked if they would stock men's PVC macs and they have always declined so I have to buy mine from Weathervain.

There is no greater enjoyment than we are both out wearing our PVC macs and often people comment on our practical rainwear.

Hopefully somebody will take over their PVC mac supplier as it will be sad to see them disappear.
