Black plastic macs in the Vatican!

Sometimes when searching the strangest things turn up! Somehow I have discovered back in the seventies women who were 'improperly' dressed when visiting the St Peters Basilica were given black plastic macs to cover up! Sadly my investigations have found some text but very few images but there is a video on YT.

That is quite a fascinating piece of history. The black raincoats they chose look like they were cheap to produce, so they probably considered it an economical way to get around youths they thought were inappropriately dressed. The fact that mostly women availed of the raincoats and the pictures attached suggests they didn't mind wearing them at all. It's unimaginable to many of us now, but it was of a time when religious dressing etiquette was quite different!

I very much doubt it, box125. I suppose they would have been supplied by an Italian company. In the 1970s there were many more suppliers than now.
As said above, they were probably cheap (especially when bought in bulk) and it is likely that they ripped easily. Are you really that desperate to own one?
I think it is time you told us a bit about yourself. We've concluded that you are Russian and that you particularly like shiny black and see-through raincoats, mainly from the film clips you ask about. It is a bit like doing a jigsaw puzzle with most of the pieces missing.
How many raincoats do you have in your collection?
