I was standing at a bus stop yesterday morning when I this lady came walking down the road with her son. He was dresses in a transparent plastic mack over his school arnorak and uniform and he was also wearing red wellingtons.
They were headed for school a short walk from the bus stop.
To my surprise they stopped at the corner, about 50 yards from the school, and almost beside the bus stop.
I would estimate he was 15 years old.
Next thing, his mum takes a pair of shoes from a bag and he takes off his wellingtons and puts them on. Then he removes the plastic mack and off he goes up the road to school.
His mum put the wellingtons into the bag and folder the plastic mack and started back up the road. As she passed me I remarked to her:" Would be not wear his wellies and mack to school for you"?. She replied smiling:" I had such a job persuaded him to wear them this far. He was afraid his friends would see him. So we agreed he could take them off at the corner. But I will be back this afternoon at 4pm for him and he will do the reverse!!!".

I have a feeling it might not be long before this kid finds his way here one day.... heheh

Wish my mother had been strict like that... Haha!

What a sensible mother, and very much like my own, when I too was made to wear a nylon mackintosh (pakamac style) to school until I was 16.

Where did this incident take place (country / town) and what was the mother´s general manner (dominant, maternal)? My mother had the unfortunate tendency to button me up in public too, I wonder if this mother did too?

I did spot one boy - about 12 years old - wearing what looked like his sister's wellies - black with red 'lipstick lips' pattern - in the snow here last week. He seemed to be enjoying the splashing through the slushy puddles.

It was fantastic watching all the girls wearing their coloured wellies in the snow this past week. All sorts of colours. Lovely. So sexy.
I did see a guy in his mid teens wearing what looked like purple wellies with his girlfriend who was wearing blue. It was about 4.30pm so difficult to make out the exact colour of his wellies. But he did seem to be content.
Now if only you could get yellow wellies!!!
