A Few Miscellaneous Observations

It's been an unusually rainy winter by Northern European standards, and with that, I have seen more raincoats than usual while out during the day. However, I have also noticed a few interesting little patterns.
The first is that although the majority of new raincoats I have seen online have been of the clear plastic variety, the kind I see on the street are almost all opaque. I've only seen one clear Topshop raincoat (which coincidentally belongs to someone I know!), but have seen quite a few Dunnes raincoats. Perhaps clear raincoats are being favoured for festivals whereas coloured raincoats are being selected for day to day use.
The second thing I've noticed is that even though wearing a plastic raincoat (clear or otherwise) would be considered a female thing to do, using a clear bubble umbrella seems not. I've seen quite a few men sporting them, albeit not in the same numbers as women. The only men I've seen wear clear rain ponchos have been tourists. I thought this was in interesting mismatch.
The final observation is that I can go for ages without seeing any women in raincoats, and then see two or three in quick succession! The university I'm currently studying at is quite reliable for that. You know what they say about buses.
So it's been very rainy over the past month. Maybe more people will buy plastic raincoats in anticipation of spring!
