Hi all you rainwear lovers, do you wear your raincoats to just look good or do you actually wear them when it's raining, I've been out this morning for 4 hrs in one of my favourite coats because I like to wear my raincoats when it's raining.

Hi,
I wear my rubber mackintoshes whenever it rains. At every opportunity I don one of my hooded rubberlined macs to protect myself and they have proved invaluable these past months . !!

Rubber-lined mackintoshes look good any time the weather is cool.
New Years Eve was a great example as she wore her cerise rubber-lined mackintosh we got from Hamilton Classics and I wore my single-texture mackintosh as well.
Raining or not doesn't matter!!
As my wife puts it, "Mackintoshes keep me warm and snuggly."
Not the fetish-driven thing but good enough for me.

I will wear a raincoat whenever there's even the slightest chance of rain in the forecast. If there's definitely going to be storms I'll wear a heavy rubber slicker & sou'wester & wellies. If there's less than 50% chance of rain I'll wear a double texture cotton rainmac & throw an umbrella in the car along with maybe some rubber overshoes. Always be prepared I say!

When the rain pours down in Scotland I don't think twice about wearing my heavy duty Tingley PVC Hi Vis raincoat along with some waterproof trousers and rubber wellies, If that's what nature wants to throw at me I'll do what I can to protect myself from it!

I only wear a raincoat whenever it rains or at least drizzles. When a chance of rain in the forcast I always take my PVC hooded raincoat with me.

I like to wear my long, shiny, see-through, glass-clear raincoats from PUL, when it is raining.

When I am on business trip, and had to spend the night in a hotel, I like to wear my shiny red and black PVC slickers from Plastico.

Hi Rainfash,
I love the ultra-shiny look of those red and black PVC raincoats from Plastico. I own raincoats made from a very similar type of PVC- the ultra-shiny, soft and 'noisy' type that clings to itself when the garment is folded up. One of such raincoats is from sadly defunct company called 'Big Kid Rainwear'; basically it is an adult-sized kids-style fun/novelty raincoat in shiny red and blue. Great for wearing with shiny wellies (e.g. Hunter) at outdoor music festivals, which are often muddy and wet events. My gf has the black and red version. My other raincoat is made from a shiny Patent blue PVC material, which is, I have found, far softer, shinier and clingy than 'regular' shiny PVC types. When folded up, it clings together (like clingfilm does) and makes a wonderful 'rustle' when handled; glass clear PVC has similar qualities.
May I ask where I could buy those ultra-shiny, clingy and soft black and red raincoats featured in your Flickr photos? Plastico rainwear no longer appears to be in operation. Similar raincoats were offered not that long ago by PUL; they were Shiny Patent Red and Shiny Patent Black offered at a discount price due to a slight odour contamination from soap powder. Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to take advantage of the special offer, and it now appears that the shiny Patent red and shiny Patent black materials (as opposed to the 'regular' shiny black and red) are not currently in stock.
I've worn all of these when it's raining heavily outside. They've kept me bone dry and comfy during many torrential downpours when I'm fishing; the other anglers pack up and go home, but I get to stay at the bankside to catch the big 'un!

I'm a fan of the clear PVC dome umbrellas, too. A PVC raincoat combined with a clear dome umbrella will protect you against just about everything the British weather can throw at you. I went out today in a very heavy downpour, blustery winds and half a foot-deep surface water (my area is low lying ground and thus prone to flooding). My trusted clear dome umbrella and PVC raincoat (the glass clear green was chosen for today) kept me absolutely bone dry.
