One of my biggest pet peeves

When it comes to selling pre-owned clothing, and I suppose this can apply to any kinds of clothing, not just rainwear, but it really bugs me when ebay sellers market an item as "vintage" as an excuse to jack up the price. Take this listing for example:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Betsey-Johnson- ... Sw7ThUdQ-M

$199 for a "vintage" coat that was made in 2012. Some people have no concept of what "vintage" means. But of course, it's worth whatever the market will bear. But for some reason this listing just rubbed me the wrong way.

i couldn't agree more with bill. I collect real vintage cotton backed pvc macs, mine are all original 60s/early 70s macs so I can certainly tell the difference. yes it bugs me when people describe macs as 60s or vintage. either they have no idea about them or just trying to fool people into paying for something that isn't what they think it is.

I regularly see eBay listings for raincoats/rainsuits that include the word "rubber" in the title for items that are clearly run of the mill, ubiquitous, cheap-ass PVC raingear. Some will also imply in the descriptions that they're made of rubber, and a few straight-up lie about it.

(I've called a few of them on the con job, and they always insist it was a mistake of some sort. That's hard to swallow, since a lot of the listings are for rainsuits that say "PVC" in 80-point type on the label and don't mention rubber at all.)
