Nope, I can't relate to burning rainwear whatsoever. Not even the slightest- and I am speaking as a guy with a full-on PVC raincoat fetish that developed during my early childhood. Those who get sexually aroused from setting fire to objects are defined as a pyrophiliacs; they ought to seek psychiatric intervention. Burning a raincoat? Not only is it environmentally unfriendly due to it releasing noxious fumes into the atmosphere (most plastics- including PVC- can be recycled these days), it is also a sickening waste of a good piece of rainwear kit. I look after my growing vinyl collection; it is hung in an orderly manner in my wardrobe (US: closet), out of direct sunlight (UV can potentially cause some colour to fade and degrade plastics over time), and with a polythene sheet draped over it to keep the dust off. Every now and again my vinyl collection gets soaked in lukewarm solution of diluted washing up liquid, then rinsed thoroughly and allowed to dry before being returned to the wardrobe.

I agree, I've never understood why some enjoy shredding and burning rainwear particularly as it is so expensive these days but if it turns people on..............."c'est la vie" !!

I am one of those who occasionally destroy rainwear or other garments made from plastic or plastic coated fabrics.
Although I do personally like the feel, looks and handling of these things I sometimes like destroying them as well. I do indeed feel pity with them as well but when I get bored of them or when they start to deteriorate then they will have to go.
My favourite method is shredding and most often I film the destruction process. Also during destruction these things are still nice to handle in terms of look, feel and sounds that they make.
I once shred a nice pair of Diesel Jeans someone asked me to do. But I must say that coted fabrics, plastic and leather are definitely better to shred because they cause less loose fibres in the machine due to either not being fibrous or the strong binding of the fibres to the coating.
The destruction act by itself doesn^t bring that muchg fun, the biggest fun is in the planning of it and the watching of the movie afterwards because I feel a little pity with the victim during the destruction process.
