Nylon Raincoats

Hello all. Just wondered if anyone on here had a passion for nylon macks? They used to refer to them as pacamacs in the sixties and seventies. I have amassed quite a collection over the years and wear them about the house every day. I sometimes take walks in secluded woodlands in my mack, but never go out locally. This is mainly due to fear. The fear of being exposed as a fetishist, and yet I long to make contact with someone who shares my passion.

personally prefer the plastic pakamcs myself, however that is beside the point. Why do you fear going out wearng a raincoat? Assuming you a guy (apologies if not) then as long as you wear what is generaly considered suitable for the weather it really is no big deal. If you were to wear say a navy or grey mac on a damp day nobody would bat an eyelid, trust me on that one. If you went out in full rainwear on a hot summers day then that would be another matter.

Next time it rains put on that raincoat and get out there. You will feel completely liberated. And no need to be nervous. Just go for it.

Unless you go out of the way to attract attention most people these days are just too busy to either notice or care about what others are wearing

I know some people automatically think 'fetish' when they see someone wearing a raincoat but most of the general public don't even know there's such a thing as 'raincoat fetish'

Well thank you all for those pearls of wisdom. I think though that my point is being missed. The comment about going out locally is something personal to me. With my style of dress and my age, wearing a nylon mack would not be suitable attire for me locally. I would stand out like someone in a shell suit. The intention of my post was firstly to introduce myself and secondly to engage someone with a similar fetish into an informative chat, compare notes and to consider the origins of my/our passion.

It really is amazing what you can get away with nowadays. So much is unisex it really is quite unbelievable. Even things not sold or billed as unisex nevertheless are so. You know there is supposed to be the "man's" way of buttoning and the "woman's" way? I have raincoats which are diametrically the opposite - a womens coat that fastens the mans way or a mans coat that fastens the womens way. But I have to admit, for myself, as a male, there is still a certain frisson in going out in a coat or a mac which you know was on the women's rail in the shop. I may have tv tendencies, I may well have more than that, but for me the sheer joy of wearing a ladies pvc mac is second to none.

In Australia with the warmer climate nylon has always been more popular than plastic. In the 70s many high school girls had an umbrella to match their school raincoat (usually blue), and kept a rain hat in the pocket 'just in case', or to wear to school and only use the brolly on the way home where you could dry it properly afterwards (and it was safe from theft). I have about a dozen full-length nylon raincoats from the 70s and 80s in various colors.

At one of the local schools to me it was part of the girls uniform to have a Navy Blue nylon mac, one of my first girlfriends went to that school, although I remember she was quite beautiful I think something else attracted me as well
