Hi-Vis Coats

What do people think of hi-vis rain coats, the kinds you'd see on a cyclist or a builder?

My dad recently handed me down one, a nice yellow one that's very shiny. It doesn't have a hood and it is a little big for me but it felt lovely on me when I went for a muddy walk in the rain yesterday! And it did look good splattered in mud from when I rolled around a bit...
