In can be intimidating to wear something you associate with the opposite sex if it is in your own neighbourhood and you have your own idea of how local people perceive you or might feel about how you look. You could of course take some away with you on holiday somewhere that you aren't known. I had a great fetish for 1990s mutli coloured cagoules but I did enjoy wearing them on a day trip to the seaside, sometimes just after buying them from local charity shops. Most people won't even notice if it's a dull or damp day.

I remember when I first started collecting rainwear I used to make early morning visits to our local dump and at that time pakamacs and blue and green rukka coats were in almost every skip, so much so that I left loads of them behind. I've actually got some pakamacs that I just bought for a nominal sum as they were about to get dumped, still new with the labels on. They aren't the most easy things to sell if you aren't a collector.

Nylon rainwear does it for me too - as well as PVC & rubber ( rubberized included ) . My star item is an Aigle riding Mac , bought in around 2002 - it is truly wonderful & totally acceptable in public . It has a hood in the collar but I prefer to wear a sou'wester with it & rain boots of course ! Other items include poncho type rain capes , both full length & short . I agree with much that has been written here that the sensitivity is with you , not others . Take courage & go out in your rainwear ! It is enlightening !

Hi
I too love nylon rainwear, I think its the swish and feel of the nylon more than anything else. I have quite a good collection of macs and capes and my favourite colours are red and navy. I like to go out whenever I can and will wear a mac even if its looks like rain. As others have said nobody takes any notice what we wear, a skirt, trousers or a mack. I understand if you live in a small community as I do also but just go to the nearest town if that bothers you.
Janet.

Hi! I also love nylon raincoats and wear one every day when I'm indoors. Almost every day when I am out walking with my dog, I wear also nylon raincoat. Sometimes 2 or 3 raincoats.
I was too shy in the beginning many years ago. It may well be that there is someone who looks but there is never anyone have asked whether it is a fetish. If someone will ask, I just answer that it is not just a raincoat but also windproof.
I like the feeling of nylon on the skin. It should preferably be of the older type from the 70s which is stiff and noisy when moving.
Sometimes I take a raincoat and put it down my pants and a raincoat more outside.
I have 8-10 coats of the type that was fashionable in the 70s in both dark blue and brown.
